Reducing dependence on donations

Many NGOs around the world are currently facing a number of challenges, which are adversely affecting their organizational and financial sustainability. These challenges range from Lack of Donations, Limited Capacity to Poor Governance and Networking.

As to the case of our parent organisation RDIS, many NGOs are expressing difficulty in finding sufficient, appropriate and continuous funding for their work. In order to overcome the problem of lack of or diminishing donations, NGOs are encouraged to start establishing their own projects through which they can earn money, thus reducing their dependence on donations, which are highly unpredictable.

Therefore, our parent organisation RDIS established this private company Best Products & Services Limited (BPS) to work as a social enterprise as a way of attaining economic sustainability. The goal of registering a “Social Enterprise” or  “a private company limited by shares/guarantee” was to allow the organization to generate profit and retain that surplus income for reinvestment or use it to promote the non-profit objectives of the organisation.

Other objective include, overcoming the problem of lack of or diminishing donations; reducing dependency on donations, which are highly unpredictable; utilizing available resources and opportunities to prevent financial constraints that may arise unexpectedly; contributing to the provision of adequate services and products at highest customers’ satisfaction .
